J.W. York Cornet.

This is a J.W. York cornet that I own.  Going by the serial number, it dates from around 1913-1914.  That means it is about 94 years old.  It is adjustable from the keys of Bb to A, and with an additional tuning slide (which I do not have) it could be put into high, instead of low pitch.  I am told they have an optional leadpipe that puts the horn in the key of C.  I play this horn at all my concerts now, and I do use the origional mouthpiece (it took a long time to get used to it).  I have the origional case, but it needs some repairs before it will be safe to put the horn in it for transport, so I use a homemade case instead, which works very well.  I am told that the horn origionally had a gold bell wash, and gold inlay in the engravings, but these are worn off now.
